Creating a scalable digital business

Last summer we were tasked by the Chief Executive of Audio Network to scour the market for a transformative Digital Product leader. Audio Network is an award-winning, PE-backed music producer which licences its 95,000 premium-quality music tracks to an array of international film, television, advertising and digital businesses to use in their productions.

Their core business typically follows a low volume, high margin model where an account manager will work alongside a client to choose the most relevant piece of music for their film or video. Over the last few years, there has been an exponential rise in the number of professional ‘Youtubers’ and the business sought to capitalise on this through the appointment of a Product leader to help create a scalable digital business for this mass-market.

During the search we assessed over 120 digital and Product leaders from the online music publishing and streaming space across London, New York and California. The search lasted approximately 6 weeks over the course of the summer.

We recommended a highly talented media product expert, X Last.FM and Sony as part of our four person shortlist who was ultimately appointed and joined the following month.
